Qualifications

• Honours degree in Education or English required; Masters preferred.
• Undergraduate qualification in Foundation Phase Education required.
• At least two years’ teaching experience in Foundation Phase English Home Language Literacy and/or English Additional Language.
• Experience in higher education teaching is desirable.
• Solid knowledge of English Home Language Literacy and English Additional Language.
• Knowledge of teaching techniques for Foundation Phase English Home Language and English Additional Language.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver English Home Language Literacy and English Additional Language modules at a Foundation Phase level.
• Design curriculum, instructional materials, and assessment strategies to promote active learning.
• Conduct research regarding English language teaching or related fields, leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at conferences.
• Participate in academic administration, including serving on faculty committees, contributing to curriculum development, and assisting with accreditation processes.
• Engage in professional development activities to stay abreast of advancements in English language teaching, educational pedagogy, and research methodologies.
• Collaborate with colleagues within the department and across disciplines to promote interdisciplinary research and educational initiatives.
• Represent the department and the faculty at academic conferences, workshops, and public events.
• Contribute to community outreach programs and initiatives that promote the use of English language in local and regional communities.
