Placements24 is seeking a creative and skilled Formulation Scientist to join their Drug Product Development team in Port Elizabeth. Qualifications

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• Proficiency in formulation techniques, including granulation, blending, tablet compression, coating, and sterile product manufacturing.
• Experience with various analytical methods for characterizing drug substances and products (e.g., HPLC, dissolution testing).
• Understanding of ICH guidelines and regulatory requirements for drug product development.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct formulation development studies for various dosage forms (e.g., oral solids, injectables, topical).
• Investigate and select appropriate excipients to achieve desired drug product characteristics, stability, and bioavailability.
• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for pilot-scale and commercial production.
• Perform characterization studies on raw materials and finished drug products using relevant analytical techniques.
• Prepare scientific documentation, including formulation development reports, batch records, and regulatory submission sections.
• Collaborate closely with analytical development, process engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful product scale-up and transfer.
