Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day regional operations including warehousing, inventory, and transport.
• Develop strategies to improve efficiency, cut costs, and raise service levels.
• Lead and develop operations staff with coaching and performance management.
• Ensure health, safety and environmental regulations compliance in facilities.
• Forecast demand, monitor stock, and optimize inventory to control costs.
• Build relationships with logistics providers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Set and monitor KPIs; analyze data and report findings.

About the Role

Our client, a well-established entity in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, is seeking an experienced and highly capable Regional Operations Manager to oversee operations in the Mossel Bay, Western Cape region. This critical role involves managing all aspects of the supply chain, logistics, and distribution within the designated geographical area, ensuring operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and timely product delivery. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in operations management, a deep understanding of FMCG logistics, and a proven ability to lead and optimize complex operational processes. You will be instrumental in driving operational excellence, managing teams, and implementing strategies that enhance our client's market position in the **Western Cape**. This is a hands‑on, on‑site role requiring significant leadership and problem‑solving capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all day‑to‑day operational activities within the assigned region, including warehousing, inventory management, and transportation.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels across the supply chain.
• Manage and lead a team of operations staff, providing guidance, training, and performance management to ensure high productivity and engagement.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations within operational facilities.
• Monitor inventory levels, forecast demand, and optimize stock management to meet customer needs while minimizing holding costs.
• Develop strong relationships with logistics providers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for operational performance, analyzing data and reporting on findings and recommendations.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the operations department, identifying and implementing best practices.
• Manage the operational budget for the region, ensuring cost control and financial accountability.
• Resolve operational issues and challenges promptly and effectively to minimize disruption.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management, with a significant portion in the FMCG industry.
• Proven experience in managing warehousing, logistics, and distribution operations.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate diverse teams.
• Strong understanding of supply chain principles, inventory control, and transportation management.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a data‑driven approach to decision‑making.
• Proficiency in relevant software systems (ERP, WMS, TMS) and MS Office Suite.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Mossel Bay, Western Cape.
