Job summary

Time Personnel is assisting a client in Cape Town to recruit a Junior FMCG Buyer in a fast-paced buying team. You will source products, negotiate pricing, manage purchase orders, monitor stock levels and support commercially driven buying decisions.

The role requires up to 2 years’ FMCG/wholesale experience, strong Excel skills, and a valid SA driving license. Full training will be provided, with opportunities to grow in procurement and stock management.

Qualifications

• Matric or equivalent qualification.
• Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Management or related field.
• Up to 2 years' relevant experience in FMCG, distribution or wholesale.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and computer literacy.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and highly organised.
• Valid SA driving license and own reliable vehicle.
• Advantageous: Buying or procurement exposure; Experience with ERP or stock management systems; Understanding of stock, GP, margins and purchasing; Previous internship or graduate programme experience.

Responsibilities

• Capture and maintain purchase orders.
• Track deliveries and outstanding purchase orders.
• Monitor stock levels and identify potential stock risks.
• Assist with stock analysis, slow-moving stock and aged inventory.
• Follow up with suppliers regarding orders, deliveries and outstanding issues.
• Monitor pricing, promotions and supplier deals.
• Assist with invoice, credit and stock-related queries.
• Maintain accurate buying records and documentation.
• Capture and reconcile information across internal systems and prepare reports.
• Communicate with warehouse, finance, sales and operations teams.
• Follow up on outstanding action points and ensure deadlines are met.
• Provide general administrative support to the buying department.
