Job summary

Innomotics is seeking a Geared Motors Assembly Artisan to join our Midrand manufacturing team. You will assemble, test, inspect, and refurbish geared motors and gearbox systems to the highest standards, reading drawings and working to precise specifications.

You should bring a mechanical background with at least 3 years in assembly, fitment, testing, and fault-finding. The role requires adherence to safety practices and quality controls in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified Artisan with Trade Test Certificate in Mechanical Fitting, Millwright, or related.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical assembly, gearbox assembly, motor assembly, or rotating equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience using measuring instruments such as verniers, micrometers, and dial gauges.
• Sound knowledge of mechanical fitting practices and workshop safety standards.
• Forklift and overhead crane experience will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assemble geared motors, gearboxes, electric motors, and related mechanical equipment according to engineering specifications and assembly procedures.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, assembly instructions, and bills of materials.
• Fit and install gears, bearings, shafts, seals, couplings, and other mechanical components.
• Perform mechanical alignment, adjustments, and quality checks during assembly.
• Conduct functional testing and final inspections of completed units.
• Diagnose assembly issues and perform troubleshooting, repairs, and rework where required.
• Refurbish and repair geared motors and gearbox units returned from customers.
• Ensure all work complies with company quality, safety, and operational standards.
• Complete production records, inspection reports, and job documentation accurately.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to achieving production targets.
