Job summary

Innomotics in Midrand is seeking a Geared Motors Assembly Artisan to join our manufacturing team. You will assemble, test, inspect and refurbish geared motors and gearbox systems to the highest quality standards, following engineering drawings and assembly procedures.

The ideal candidate holds a Trade Test Certificate in Mechanical Fitting or Millwright, with at least 3 years in mechanical/motor/gearbox assembly, and strong fault-finding abilities.

Qualifications

• Qualified Artisan with a Trade Test Certificate in Mechanical Fitting, Millwright, or related trade.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical assembly, gearbox assembly, motor assembly, or rotating equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience using measuring instruments such as verniers, micrometers, and dial gauges.
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Assemble geared motors, gearboxes, electric motors and related components according to specifications.
• Read and interpret drawings, BOMs and assembly instructions.
• Install gears, bearings, shafts, seals and couplings; perform alignment and quality checks.
• Conduct functional testing and inspections of completed units.
• Diagnose assembly issues and perform repairs or rework where needed.
• Refurbish and repair geared motors and gearbox units returned from customers.
• Maintain records and ensure clean, safe work areas.

Your Future Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Geared Motors Assembly Artisan to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling, testing, inspecting, and refurbishing geared motors and gearbox systems to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities

• Assemble geared motors, gearboxes, electric motors, and related mechanical equipment according to engineering specifications and assembly procedures.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, assembly instructions, and bills of materials.
• Fit and install gears, bearings, shafts, seals, couplings, and other mechanical components.
• Perform mechanical alignment, adjustments, and quality checks during assembly.
• Conduct functional testing and final inspections of completed units.
• Diagnose assembly issues and perform troubleshooting, repairs, and rework where required.
• Refurbish and repair geared motors and gearbox units returned from customers.
• Ensure all work complies with company quality, safety, and operational standards.
• Complete production records, inspection reports, and job documentation accurately.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to achieving production targets.
• Qualified Artisan with a Trade Test Certificate in Mechanical Fitting, Millwright, or a related trade.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical assembly, gearbox assembly, motor assembly, or rotating equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience using measuring instruments such as verniers, micrometers, and dial gauges.
• Sound knowledge of mechanical fitting practices and workshop safety standards.
• Forklift and overhead crane experience will be advantageous.
• Strong mechanical and technical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and workmanship.
• Effective fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Quality-focused with a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
