Job summary

Octotel is seeking a Floating Technician Team Lead to oversee fibre network operations across multiple regions and teams. You will manage resources, guide technicians, and step in hands-on to maintain service quality during high-demand periods.

You will lead installations, maintenance, and fault resolution while coordinating with operational teams and contractors to ensure rapid response and compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Matric Certificate (Grade 12) required.
• 4+ years in fibre installation, splicing or maintenance with leadership experience.
• Valid Code B drivers license and own transport.
• Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to travel between regions and work on standby rota.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise floating technicians across multiple areas, prioritising tasks.
• Allocate resources, tools, and staff based on project demands.
• Coordinate with NOC, route teams and contractors as primary contact.
• Provide technical mentorship and on-the-job support.
• Oversee installation of network infrastructure and equipment per site plans.
• Manage maintenance and fault resolution to restore service quickly.
• Maintain records in operational systems and organise after-hours call-outs.
