Job summary

Kabstrading Co. is seeking a field support role to assist a Fibre Technician across multiple designated sites in KwaZulu-Natal.

The role focuses on maintenance, documentation, and ensuring safety and cleanliness at all times. The successful candidate will perform OTDR tests, help with fibre and cable installations, and maintain orderly tool storage, site records, and vehicle condition while adhering to SHEQ standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Fibre Technician with network maintenance, including preventative and reactive maintenance.
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment at all designated sites (e.g., manholes, surrounding work areas).
• Ensure tools, equipment, and the maintenance vehicle are clean, safe, and in good working order.
• Manage and organise cables on slack brackets.
• Assist with documentation, labelling, and record-keeping requirements.
• Perform OTDR monitoring, relay findings, and save test traces accurately.
• Comply with all SHEQ policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Keep the vehicle file updated and report any defects or damages.
• Support reinstatments, fibre installations, cable installations, and general field work.
