Job summary

Jobs 4 All seeks an experienced Workshop Manager to lead a busy heavy-vehicle workshop in South Africa. You will drive fleet maintenance, safety compliance and cost control, while delivering high-quality workmanship and on-time repairs.

Responsibilities include planning, staffing, budgeting, parts control and extensive reporting to senior management. A strong background in diesel mechanics and large fleet operations is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in commercial vehicle maintenance.
• Experience as Workshop Manager, Fleet Maintenance Manager or senior workshop supervisor.
• Experience in transport, logistics, trucking or large fleet environments.
• Experience with workshop budgets and maintenance costs; valid driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Ensure day-to-day workshop operations are efficient and aligned with fleet requirements.
• Plan, coordinate and control maintenance and repairs; allocate tasks to mechanics and technical personnel.
• Manage fleet maintenance, preventative maintenance and breakdown management.
• Lead and manage workshop staff and promote safety culture.
• Control parts, stores and procurement; monitor usage and costs.
• Prepare and maintain accurate job cards and maintenance histories.
• Perform vehicle inspections and quality control before returning to service.
• Maintain health, safety and compliance standards in the workshop.
• Monitor fleet performance and report to senior management.
