Placements24 is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to oversee transportation fleet operations in Richards Bay. You will manage acquisition, maintenance, and utilization of a diverse vehicle fleet to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a strategic thinker with strong operational management skills, deep knowledge of fleet management best practices, and a proven track record in reducing downtime and controlling budgets.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management or a similar role within a large-scale logistics operation.
• In-depth knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair and operational requirements.
• Strong understanding of fleet management software and telematics systems.
• Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Proven ability to manage budgets and drive cost-reduction initiatives.
• Valid drivers license and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement policies and procedures for effective fleet management, including acquisition, disposal, and maintenance.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the fleet, ensuring vehicles are maintained to high standards and are compliant with all safety regulations.
• Manage relationships with third-party service providers, including maintenance workshops and parts suppliers.
• Monitor vehicle performance, fuel consumption, and driver behavior to identify areas for improvement and cost savings.
• Ensure compliance with all local and national transportation laws, regulations, and licensing requirements.
• Develop and manage the fleet budget, track expenses, and provide regular financial reports to senior management.
