Astral Foods Ltd in Paarl is seeking a qualified Fitter and Turner to join our manufacturing team. You will be responsible for condition monitoring, maintenance, fitting and welding, and machining parts on lathes and milling machines.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum N3 certificate, completed apprenticeship with a trade test, at least 3 years’ experience, and be prepared to work overtime and relocate to the area. ISO/HACCP and safety compliance are required.

The Ideal Candidate Would Be Responsible For

• Commissioning of mechanical equipment.

The Successful Candidate Must Meet The Following Requirements

• A qualified Fitter and Turner with a minimum N3 certificate;
• Completed apprenticeship with a trade test certificate;
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience as Fitter and Turner preferably in a manufacturing environment;
• Experience in gear-boxes, hydraulic- and pneumatic systems will be a definite advantage;
• Be pro-active and able to use own initiative;
• Continuous improvement mind-set and be able to work in a team as well as individual environment;
• Personal and professional integrity;
• Be prepared to work overtime and carry out standby duties on a roster basis;
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to: Health & Safety, risk management; Astral Code of Conduct;
• Commit and comply to the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 22000, HACCP, 20 Keys, Astral Code of Ethics, and any other company management systems.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping at all times;
• Be prepared to relocate to close vicinity of the factory;
