Job summary

Objective Personnel in Gauteng is seeking a skilled Trade Tested / Red Seal Fitter and Turner with 10-15 years of post-apprenticeship maintenance experience to join our production-focused team. You will perform both planned and breakdown maintenance on mechanical equipment to support continuous operations.

The role requires own transport, the ability to read and produce detailed technical drawings, and a passion for maintaining and optimizing equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Trade tested / Red Seal certification is mandatory.
• 10-15 years of post-apprenticeship maintenance experience in production environments.
• Own transport is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform both planned and breakdown maintenance on mechanical equipment.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns, minimizing production downtime.
• Inspect machinery, equipment and buildings; carry out scheduled maintenance.
• Troubleshoot, repair and adjust equipment to keep production running efficiently.
• Manufacture parts in emergencies to get machines running.
• Create precise part drawings for manufacturers.
• Use welding equipment to fuse components and assemble systems.
• Participate in standby roster for after-hours support.

Duties

Perform both planned and breakdown maintenance on mechanical equipment. Respond promptly to breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime for production. Inspect machinery, equipment, and buildings, and carry out scheduled maintenance. Troubleshoot, repair, and adjust equipment as necessary to keep production running efficiently. Be able to manufacture parts when require in an emergency situation to get the machine up and running. Must be able to make drawings of parts with precision to give to a manufacturer. Use welding equipment to fuse structural components and assemble mechanical systems. Participate in a standby roster for after-hours support when necessary.
