Job summary

HotelJobs, a well-established hospitality group, is seeking an experienced Financial Reporting Accountant to join its Finance team. The role focuses on accurate financial reporting across a portfolio of hotels and supporting the Financial Manager and Hotel General Managers.

You will supervise a team of bookkeepers and hotel administrators, oversee monthly processing and reconciliations, review supplier payments, and ensure timely, compliant reporting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in accounting with junior to mid-management exposure.
• SAIPA or SAICA articles advantageous.
• Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance or related field advantageous.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience with balance sheet reconciliations.

A well-established hospitality group is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Reporting Accountant to join its Finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting across a portfolio of hotels, overseeing financial processes and supporting both the Financial Manager and Hotel General Managers.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Supervise and support a team of Bookkeepers and Hotel Administrators, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
• Oversee daily, weekly and monthly financial processing activities.
• Review and approve supplier payments and reconciliations.
• Perform and review balance sheet and complex account reconciliations.
• Review monthly financial results with Hotel General Managers to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
• Ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial records and supporting documentation.
• Provide accounting support and guidance to Hotel General Managers and operational teams.
• Prepare and submit accurate financial reports within required deadlines.
• Assist with financial projects, process improvements and other ad hoc finance-related tasks.
• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal procedures.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 5 years' accounting experience in a junior to mid-management position.
• Completed SAIPA or SAICA articles will be highly advantageous.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field will be advantageous.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Proven experience in balance sheet reconciliations and reviewing financial results.
• Previous experience supervising or managing a finance team.
• Strong computer literacy and proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work with various stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
• Experience within the hospitality industry will be advantageous.
