Job summary

Profession Hub in Mpumalanga seeks an experienced Financial Manager to oversee the financial operations of the particle board production line. You will partner with production, procurement and senior management to drive cost control and strategic financial decisions.

The role requires 5–10 years in finance, strong manufacturing cost accounting expertise, and advanced Excel skills. You will manage budgeting, reporting, inventory valuation, cash flow and risk across the production cycle.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years' experience in finance and accounting.
• At least 3–5 years' experience in a Financial Management role within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in the wood products industry (particle board, MDF, or similar) is advantageous.
• Strong experience in manufacturing cost accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, and inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans for the production line.
• Monitor and analyse production costs including raw materials, utilities, maintenance, and overheads.
• Identify cost variances and recommend cost-saving and efficiency improvements.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and management accounts.
• Ensure accurate inventory valuation and cost accounting for materials, WIP, and finished goods.
• Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial risk.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
• Coordinate and support audits (internal and external).
• Develop financial models to evaluate capex and operational improvement projects.

Experience

• 5 - 10 years' progressive experience in finance and accounting.
• At least 3 - 5 years' experience in a Financial Management role within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in the wood products industry, including particle board, MDF, or similar industrial manufacturing will be advantageous.
• Strong experience in manufacturing cost accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, and inventory management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in financial reporting tools.
