Job summary

Network Contracting is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to own the full financial function and provide strategic financial insight from its Midrand base. You will oversee reporting, budgeting, controls and compliance while leading a skilled finance team.

The role requires a BCom with articles and 5+ years in senior financial management, including ERP systems and SARS compliance. Expect a challenging, impactful position with cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • BCom Accounting/Finance qualification with completed articles.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience managing a full financial function.
  • 5+ years' experience in a senior accounting or financial management role.
  • Proven experience managing and developing finance teams.
  • Experience with SAP, Oracle or NetSuite; Advanced Microsoft Excel; financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audits and statutory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day finance operations including AP, AR, GL and bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial records, inventory, debtors, creditors and cashbook.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Manage month-end and year-end financial deliverables.
  • Review and approve month-end journals and GL reconciliations.
  • Provide internal and external financial reports on time.
  • Implement and monitor effective financial controls.
  • Ensure statutory compliance and regulatory returns.
  • Manage audits and SARS queries; develop the finance team.
  • Provide financial analysis to support business decisions.

Job description

A leading organisation is looking for an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of the full financial function and provide strategic financial insight to the business. A well-established organisation based in Midrand is looking for an experienced Financial Controller to oversee the full financial function. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, financial controls and statutory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day finance operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger and bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records, including inventory, debtors, creditors, cashbook, revenue and costs.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Manage month-end and year-end financial deliverables.
  • Review and approve month-end journals and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Prepare accurate and timely internal and external financial reports.
  • Implement and monitor effective financial controls.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and regulatory returns.
  • Manage internal and external audits and handle SARS queries and requirements.
  • Lead, manage, coach and develop the finance team.
  • Provide financial analysis to support business decision‑making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems and reporting.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders across Finance, Sales, Production, Operations and Settlements.
Minimum Requirements

Qualification:

  • BCom Accounting/Finance qualification with completed articles.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience managing a full financial function.
  • 5+ years' experience in a senior accounting or financial management role.
  • Proven experience managing and developing finance teams.
  • Experience with accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle or NetSuite.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audits and statutory compliance.
