Job summary

Shift Pursuit is looking for a Financial Accountant for a client in George, Western Cape. The role emphasizes accurate bookkeeping, VAT compliance and client-focused accounting services. You will manage day-to-day financial records and support monthly reporting.

Responsibilities include processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and assisting with year-end statements. Strong Excel skills and familiarity with Xero or Sage are preferred.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in an accounting environment.
• Strong understanding of accounting and bookkeeping principles.
• Experience with VAT and other statutory submissions.
• Proficiency in accounting software, preferably Xero, Sage or similar.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

• Capture and process financial transactions accurately.
• Prepare and maintain accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Perform bank, supplier and customer reconciliations.

• Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements.
• Prepare and submit VAT and other relevant statutory returns.
• Assist with income tax and other tax-related submissions where required.
• Liaise with clients regarding accounting and financial queries.
