Vivo Energy in Cape Town seeks a Senior Financial Accountant to prepare IFRS-compliant accounting for group companies, ensuring accuracy and completeness of records. The role emphasizes ethics, timely reporting, and continuous IFRS updates.

You will manage leases under IFRS 16, review the general ledger monthly, support business understanding of balances, handle intercompany multi-currency accounting, and coordinate with auditors and a junior accountant.

Qualifications

• NQF Level 7 Degree (Accounting or Relevant)
• CA (SA) accreditation
• Latest IFRS Knowledge
• Caseware experience
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Finance function

Responsibilities

• Accounting and reconciliation of leases (IFRS 16)
• Review of general ledger monthly and provide feedback to corporate accountants
• Understand account balances with the business for validity and accuracy
• Perform quarterly and year-end reporting schedules for group accounting submissions
• Responsible for a segment of business planning - Balance Sheet

Purpose of the Job

To prepare the financial accounting activities for group companies in accordance with IFRS to ensure valid, accurate and complete accounting records.

What You'll Be Doing

• Accounting and reconciliation of leases (additions, early terminations, modifications)in terms of IFRS 16
• Review of general ledger on a monthly basis and provide feedback to corporate accountants where required.
• Work with business to understand account balances and ensure validity and accuracy.
• Perform quarterly and year end reporting schedules for group accounting submissions.
• Responsible for segment of business planning - Balance Sheet
• Work closely with company auditors to complete company audits in a timely manner
• Manage and supervise assistant accountant.
• Multi-currency intercompany accounting
