Job summary

Vivo Energy in Cape Town seeks an experienced Financial Accountant to manage IFRS-based accounting for group entities, including lease accounting under IFRS 16, month-end close, and statutory reporting.

You will partner with auditors, supervise an assistant accountant, and drive accurate balance sheet reporting across multiple currencies while upholding high ethical standards.

Qualifications

• NQF Level 7 degree in accounting or relevant field.
• CA(SA) accreditation is required.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and latest standards.
• Experience with CaseWare and SAP ERP is advantageous.
• Minimum of 5 years in a finance role.

Responsibilities

• Accounting and reconciliation of leases (IFRS 16).
• Monthly GL review and feedback to corporate accountants.
• Collaborate with business to validate account balances.
• Prepare quarterly and year-end group reporting schedules.
• Own a segment of balance sheet planning.
• Coordinate with external auditors for timely audits.
• Manage and supervise the assistant accountant.
• Multi-currency intercompany accounting.

Purpose of the Job

To prepare the financial accounting activities for group companies in accordance with IFRS to ensure valid, accurate and complete accounting records.

What You'll Be Doing

• Accounting and reconciliation of leases (additions, early terminations, modifications)in terms of IFRS 16
• Review of general ledger on a monthly basis and provide feedback to corporate accountants where required.
• Work with business to understand account balances and ensure validity and accuracy.
• Perform quarterly and year end reporting schedules for group accounting submissions.
• Responsible for segment of business planning - Balance Sheet
• Work closely with company auditors to complete company audits in a timely manner
• Manage and supervise assistant accountant.
• Multi-currency intercompany accounting

• Statutory reporting: review / compile Annual financial statements for the non-SA entities
• Explain to business the impact of the new standards on financial results.

Baseline
