The role ensures integrity of management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls, partnering with key stakeholders to enhance financial transparency and support business objectives.

Qualifications

• BCom in Accounting, Financial Management, or related field required.
• CA(SA) or CIMA designation preferred.
• 5-8 years’ experience in accounting or financial reporting.
• Knowledge of applicable legislation frameworks.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.
• Experience analysing cost allocation methodologies.
• Experience working with large data sets and financial reporting tools.
• Financial Services industry experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Financial Review & Reporting: Review monthly financial results and reporting submissions for completeness, accuracy and reasonability.
• Cost Allocation & Expense Governance: Oversee cost allocation methodologies and charge out models across the business.
• Budgeting, Forecasting & Performance Management: Partner with budget owners throughout budgeting and forecasting cycle.

Role Purpose

The Financial Accountant serves as a trusted advisor to Finance and business stakeholders by providing financial oversight, cost allocation governance, performance insights and decision-support analysis.

The role is responsible for ensuring the integrity of management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, invoice approvals, cost allocation methodologies and financial controls, while partnering with key stakeholders to drive accountability, financial performance and informed decision-making.

The Financial Accountant combines strong technical finance capabilities with analytical thinking, commercial acumen and data-driven insight to support business objectives and enhance financial transparency across Momentum Distribution Services (MDS).

Requirements

Qualifications:

• BCom in Accounting, Financial Management, or related field (essential).
• CA(SA) or CIMA designation preferred.

Experience:

• 5-8 years’ experience in accounting or financial reporting.

• Analyse cost drivers and assess allocation outcomes across regions, products and business areas.
• Monitor expense recoveries and allocated costs for completeness and accuracy.
• Identify trends, anomalies and opportunities for cost optimisation.
• Promote transparency and accountability in cost management practices.
• Budgeting, Forecasting & Performance Management
• Partner with budget owners throughout the budgeting and forecasting cycle.
• Review and challenge budget and forecast assumptions.

• Ensure supplier documentation and tax invoices comply with relevant SARS and VAT requirements.
• Assist in identifying and mitigating financial and operational risks.
• Support compliance with regulatory, corporate governance and Group finance requirements.
