PURPOSE OF ROLE

As the Finance Manager for Financial Accounting, you will be responsible for the full accounting function of our group of companies. In this role, you will focus on overarching finance operations while working alongside the Finance Manager that oversees Projects Accounting. You will oversee a team of 6 permanent staff members, ensuring accurate and timely financial information for the entire group. This office-based position in Century City requires commitment to additional hours during month-end periods and as needed to meet deliverables.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Financial Operations Management

• Serve as the main contact person for finance-related queries across the group
• Manage the group's accounting department and review the work of bookkeepers
• Approve payments and implement process improvements for finance procedures and internal controls
• Consolidate group results and prepare month-end financial reports and Executive Committee packs
• Perform other finance-related duties as required
• Overall financial management of other smaller subsidiaries

Overhead Budgeting

• Provide budgetary input to the Finance Manager: Projects Accounting for the annual budget
• Monitor and control overhead expenditure against approved budgets.

Treasury Management

• Review daily and weekly cash flow requirements
• Manage intercompany loan accounts and repayments to Lesedi Nuclear Services
• Ensure sufficient cash availability in current accounts for payments
• Support the preparation of cash flow forecasts for the group, with particular focus on overheads

Statutory and Tax Compliance

• Manage external financial audits
• Oversee income tax, VAT,PAYE and employee tax calculations and submissions for all companies in the group
• Coordinate filing and reviewing of tax returns with auditors
• Handle SARS audits, SARB approvals, and FICA compliance
• Maintain CIPC updates and declaration of annual duties

QUALIFICATION

• CA (SA) (understanding of IFRS is crucial) non-negotiable

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience in a Financial Manager/Financial Controller, having owned a full accounting function.
• Experience managing a finance team of 5+ employees
• Banking relationship management experience, including obtaining/managing facilities (credit card, vehicle asset finance, etc)
• Strong practical application of accounting and ERP software in a business environment
• Advanced level experience with Excel spreadsheets and formulas (pivot tables, complex formulas)
• Hands‑on experience consolidating group results for group financial statement purposes
• Strong technical experience across month-end, balance sheet controls, year-end/audit tax compliance, and consolidations in line with IFRS
• Experience in an engineering/construction environment is beneficial, not required.

COMPETENCIES

Knowledge

• Proven knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
• Working knowledge of relevant legislative requirements related to the role
• Understanding of sound financial management practices including planning, budgeting, monitoring, and control
• Strong understanding of accruals, provisions, prepayments, fixed assets, depreciation, intercompany transactions and other balance-sheet controls.
• Cash flow management expertise
• Knowledge in South African tax

Skills

• Competence in financial software applications such as Caseware would be advantageous
• Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., IFS, SAP)
• Advanced computer literacy-Advance Excel is essential
