Job summary

Santam, a market leader in Southern Africa's general insurance industry, is seeking an accounting support professional. The role involves routine accounting tasks, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial data processing to ensure compliance with procedures and internal controls.

You will work on data collection, analysis, and reporting, using standard systems to produce accurate finance reports and support bank reconciliations, payments, and data management activities.

Qualifications

• Proficient with database reporting tools and standard reporting practices.
• Ability to categorize and classify data using business systems.
• Experience retrieving data from databases and generating usable information.
• Understanding of financial accounting principles and recording processes.
• Ability to create, review and present financial reports clearly.
• Knowledge of data control and data governance in financial processes.

Purpose of the Role

Provides support on routine accounting tasks including journal entries, reconciliations, financial data processing. Assists in the preparation of financial reports and ensures compliance with accounting procedures and internal controls. Coordinates routine accounting activities and ensures accurate processing of financial transactions. Provides basic assistance with reconciliations, data entry, and financial documentation, and escalates discrepancies or issues as needed.
