Financial Accountant
Location: Waterfront CPT
Duties & Responsibilities
An established multinational business operating across Southern Africa is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its growing finance team. The company operates in a dynamic trading and distribution environment with operations spanning multiple countries and currencies.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior management, drive financial reporting improvements, support cross-border operations, and contribute to strategic decision-making within a fast-paced business.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Consolidate and review management accounts across multiple business units and countries.
- Prepare accurate monthly and year-end financial reports.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
- Coordinate external audit requirements and support audit processes.
- Assist with the implementation of real-time financial reporting.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Support ERP system implementation and optimisation initiatives.
- Identify and implement improvements to financial controls and reporting processes.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and monitor funding requirements.
- Manage multi-currency transactions and banking activities across various regions.
Foreign Exchange Management
- Monitor foreign exchange exposures and support currency risk management activities.
- Liaise with banking partners regarding foreign currency transactions.
Debtors & Creditors
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Ensure timely supplier payments and customer invoicing.
- Maintain strong working capital management practices.
Inventory & Reconciliations
- Perform monthly stock reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve inventory variances in collaboration with operational teams.
Operational & Cross-Border Support
- Assist with logistics and operational coordination where required.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations across multiple African jurisdictions.
Tax & Compliance
- Manage VAT, income tax and statutory submissions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial and regulatory requirements.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- SAICA or SAIPA articles preferred.
- Relevant Accounting, Finance or Commerce qualification.
Experience
- 2–5 years’ experience in a Financial Accountant or similar role.
- Experience within commodities, logistics, distribution, manufacturing or related industries will be advantageous.
- Exposure to multi-currency environments and cross-border operations.
- Experience with stock management and reconciliations preferred.
