Job summary

Shift Pursuit, a boutique asset management firm in Cape Town, is seeking a Finance & Operations Analyst to join their growing team. The role focuses on accurate monthly management accounting, fund accounting support, and keeping operations running smoothly with the finance, operations and investment teams.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in finance or operations, a BCom in Finance or Accounting, and exposure to asset management.

Qualifications

• BCom in Finance, Accounting, or related field required.
• 3-5 years' experience in finance or operations.
• Fund accounting experience advantageous.
• Experience within asset management, financial services, or another regulated environment beneficial.
• Exposure to Python, SQL or other data analysis tools advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts with schedules and variance analysis.
• Manage debtors and creditors, process invoices and monitor collections.
• Assist budgeting, cash flow management, and month-end reporting.
• Support fund accounting, NAV reviews, reconciliations, and administrator/custodian reporting.
• Reconcile fund cash balances, investment positions, and fee calculations.
• Liaise with third-party administrators to resolve queries and reconciliation differences.
• Process and verify trade allocations and provide operational support to investment and operations teams.
• Maintain internal controls and assist with monthly fund performance reporting.

About the Role

Key Performance Areas:

Finance & Management Accounting

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including supporting schedules and variance analysis.
• Manage debtors and creditors, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
• Raise and issue client invoices while monitoring collections and outstanding balances.
• Assist with budgeting, cash flow management, and month-end reporting.

Fund Accounting

• Support fund accounting processes, including NAV reviews, reconciliations, and oversight of administrator and custodian reporting.
• Reconcile fund cash balances, investment positions, and fee calculations.
• Liaise with third-party administrators to resolve queries and reconciliation differences.

Operations

• Process and verify trade allocations across investment portfolios.
• Provide operational support to the investment and operations teams.
• Perform routine reconciliations and data integrity checks.
• Maintain and improve operational processes and internal controls.
• Assist with monthly fund performance reporting.

Requirements:

Qualifications

• BCom in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

Experience

• 3-5 years' relevant experience in finance and/or operations.
• Fund accounting experience will be highly advantageous.
• Experience within asset management, financial services, or another regulated environment is beneficial.
• Exposure to Python, SQL, or other data analysis and automation tools is advantageous.
