Job summary

Bidvest Protea Coin is seeking a senior financial leader to manage the group finance function, oversee budgets, forecasts and reporting, and drive standardized controls across the division.

The role requires extensive ERP and BI experience, strong leadership, and a track record of delivering accurate financial information to executives and stakeholders. Office-based in Centurion with a focus on governance, cost control and strategic finance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level accounting degree required.
• Minimum 4 years in a management role with 5+ direct reports.
• Strong Excel, SQL, and BI skills essential.
• Experience with manufacturing or projects environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure robust financial controls to mitigate risk.
• Provide up-to-date financial information to management and stakeholders.
• Oversee preparation of financial budgets and forecasts.
• Analyze financial information against budgets and prior periods for tactical decisions.
• Develop and deploy processes to improve financial efficiency within the division.
• Provide input to commercial and operational activities for improvement projects.
• Streamline financial and business admin processes to enhance speed and accuracy.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks including fraud, tax, liquidity and debtor aging.
• Implement standardised systems to ensure stringent financial controls.
• Support BBBEE verification and improvement efforts.
• Oversee daily management of the group finance function.
• Oversee audits and statutory submissions.
• Manage relationships with outsourced accounting/finance providers.
• Review and approve purchases in line with procurement policies.

Job description

The suitable candidate’s main responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Basic Function

The position is responsible and accountable for producing the following result:

• Ensuring that adequate and compliant financial controls are in place within the business to mitigate financial risk.
• Providing accurate, up-to‑date, relevant and compliant financial related information to management and other stakeholders as input to operational and strategic business activities.

Strategic Work

• Oversee and manage the preparation of financial budgets and forecasts.
• Continual analysis of financial information against budgets and prior periods in order to provide input for tactical decision making.
• Develop and deploy processes, procedures, and work standards to improve the efficiency of the
• Financial function within the division.
• Provide key input to Commercial and Operational activities for continuous improvement projects.
• Streamlining and improving financial management and business administrative processes to reduce work burden and improve accuracy and speed of financial information.
• Identify and mitigate Financial and related risks including but not limited to Fraud, Tax, Forex, Liquidity, Debtor Aging, WIP, Billing and unrecorded liabilities
• Develop, implement, and deploy standardised systems to ensure stringent financial controls.
• Embrace and drive the deployment of the People Journey and development within the division and particularly the financial Internship programme
• Support the company’s BBBEE verification and level improvement activities.

Tactical Work

• Day-to‑Day management of the Group Finance function.
• Oversee the preparation issuance of periodic financial information and presentations to stakeholders as necessary (Operations Management, Exco, Board) including:
• Flash Reports including Balance Sheet reconciliation
• Financial Budgets and Quarterly Forecasts.
• Manco Financial Pack and Management Accounts
• Board, Cluster packs
• Oversee Annual Financial Audits in accordance with the business and financiers’ timelines.
• Provide input to commercial and operational functions for the purpose of cost price development, preparing project appraisals and cost/benefit (IRR) analysis.
• Weekly/Monthly Cashflow monitoring and forecasting including key supplier payments and debtor collections
• Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team
• Manage relationship third parties to which accounting or finance functions have been outsourced
• Oversee the division’s transaction procession systems providing guidance on correct processing to operational heads and team members, particularly Billing and Projects and maintenance work in progress costs.
• Oversee inventory management function including the controls around the transacting and movement of warehouse and project stock
• Review and approve all purchases in line with BPC Procurement policies and guidelines
• Prepare and submit various statutory requirements.
• Ensure that the division complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
• Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
• Support with necessary requests and matters involving the business’s financiers, customers supplier and Cluster reporting.

Preferred qualifications/attributes/skills:

• BCom Degree/Diploma in Accounting.
• At least 4 years’ experience in a management role with at least over 5 direct reports.
• Advanced Excel skills, including Tables
• Exposure to SQL databases, Power Query and Power BI for report writing
• Experience with SAP, Syspro or Microsoft Dynamics ERP systems includingFSM.
• Experience in a manufacturing and/or projects environment.
• Self-starter with strong attention to detail.
• Team management and development skills, including basic HR practices.
• The role is based role in Centurion and Office based.
