Job summary

Sagen Advisory in Atlantis, Cape Town, is seeking a Financial Manager to own the finance function end-to-end. You will manage cash flow, treasury, multi-currency transactions, and financial reporting for local and international operations.

You will lead the finance team, optimise internal controls, and ensure statutory compliance, including SARS, VAT, PAYE. A CA(SA)/CIMA/ACCA level qualification with 6–15+ years of experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Senior finance leadership with 6–15+ years of finance experience.
• Experience in manufacturing, engineering, distribution, logistics or industrial operations.
• CA(SA) or equivalent professional designation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day finance, cash flow planning and treasury processes.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements and board packs.
• Oversee local and international banking and multi-currency transactions.
• Ensure statutory compliance (SARS, VAT, PAYE, income tax) and tax submissions.
• Mentor and develop the finance team; refine internal controls and SOPs.
• Monitor costing, inventory, and stock control in a manufacturing environment.

Job description

An established and dynamic business within the industrial and manufacturing sector, operating both locally and internationally, is looking to appoint a Financial Manager. This role is based in Atlantis, Cape Town.

This role is responsible for taking full ownership of the finance function, including day-to-day financial management, cash flow planning, foreign exchange transactions, local and international banking, and finance team leadership. Reporting directly to the Financial Director, the Financial Manager will provide commercial insight and drive operational efficiency across the organisation.

Expanded Duties & Responsibilities

Financial Oversight & Reporting

• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, and board packs.
• Provide insightful analysis of performance against budget.

Treasury & Cash Flow Management

• Lead daily cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
• Execute and manage multi-currency foreign exchange transactions.

Banking & International Trade

• Oversee local and international banking relationships.
• Review multi-currency bank reconciliations.
• Ensure regulatory compliance relating to foreign transactions.

Compliance, Tax & Audit

• Lead year-end audit preparations.
• Ensure full statutory compliance.
• Manage SARS queries, VAT, PAYE, and income tax submissions.

Leadership & Operations

• Direct, mentor, and develop the finance team.
• Refine internal controls and standard operating procedures.
• Build finance team capacity and operational effectiveness.

Costing & Inventory

• Monitor product costing and inventory accounting.
• Maintain robust stock control processes within a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications & Experience

• Professional designation preferred: CA(SA), AGA(SA), CIMA, or ACCA.
• 6 to 15+ years of finance experience.
• Minimum of 5 years in a senior finance leadership role.
• Proven track record in cash flow management, treasury processes, and multi-currency transactions.
• Strong background in manufacturing, engineering, distribution, logistics, or industrial operations.
• Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and financial software.
