The Finance IT Project Manager will oversee and deliver finance technology initiatives across financial systems, process automation, reporting platforms, and business transformation projects. The role is responsible for coordinating cross-functional teams across Finance and Information Technology, ensuring project governance, mitigating risk, and driving the successful implementation and adoption of finance-related technology solutions.
Key Role Responsibilities
1. Project Delivery & Coordination
- Plan, execute, and monitor Finance IT projects across financial systems, process automation, reporting platforms, and system integrations.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, RAID logs, communication plans, and stakeholder matrices.
- Coordinate internal Finance, IT, and business teams, as well as external vendors and implementation partners.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, resources, and deliverables.
2. Finance Systems & Digital Transformation
- Lead the implementation, enhancement, and optimisation of finance systems and applications.
- Support projects involving ERP platforms, financial reporting tools, budgeting and forecasting solutions, and workflow automation.
- Collaborate with Finance stakeholders to define business requirements and translate them into technology solutions.
- Ensure finance technology projects align with business objectives and operational requirements.
3. Business Analysis & Process Improvement
- Analyse and document current finance processes and identify improvement opportunities.
- Facilitate requirements gathering workshops with Finance and business stakeholders.
- Drive process optimisation, standardisation, and automation initiatives.
- Ensure solutions improve efficiency, accuracy, compliance, and reporting capabilities.
4. Change Management & User Adoption
- Develop and execute change management plans, including communication, training, stakeholder engagement, and adoption tracking.
- Conduct impact assessments and readiness evaluations for new finance technologies and process changes.
- Support users throughout implementation and transition phases.
- Monitor adoption and ensure successful embedding of new systems and processes.
- Establish and maintain project governance structures and reporting frameworks.
- Produce regular project status reports for Finance, IT leadership, and steering committees.
- Monitor project risks, issues, dependencies, and mitigation actions.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and regulatory obligations.
Technical & Project Skills
- Strong understanding of finance systems, ERP platforms, and financial reporting processes.
- Project management expertise across Waterfall, Agile, or hybrid delivery methodologies.
- Experience with financial systems implementations, upgrades, and integrations.

Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years' experience managing Finance IT or business systems projects.
- Experience implementing or enhancing ERP and finance-related applications.
- Experience working with Finance stakeholders, financial reporting processes, and business transformation initiatives.
- Project Management certification advantageous (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum).
- Experience with change management methodologies beneficial.
Work Environment & Expectations
- Hybrid working arrangement with approximately three days in-office per week.
- Interaction with senior Finance leaders, business unit heads, and IT stakeholders.
- Occasional after-hours work during system deployments, testing, or go-live activities.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects within a fast-paced professional services environment.
