Job summary

Newrest in Johannesburg is seeking a Finance Graduate Intern to provide practical exposure to Debtors, Creditors, Costings and other financial functions. The successful candidate will support the Finance team while developing accounting and financial administration skills in a catering sector.

The role focuses on accuracy, analytics and hands-on cash flow related activities, with opportunities to learn systems and reporting processes within the hospitality industry.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process debtors reconciliations and customer invoices.
• Capture supplier invoices and reconciliations; manage payments.
• Assist with menu costing and cost-of-sales data.

Job description

To provide the Finance Graduate Intern with practical exposure to key financial functions, including Debtors, Creditors, Costings etc. The successful graduate will support the Finance team while developing practical accounting and financial administration skills in a catering Sector.

Debtors

• Preparation and completion of debtors reconciliations.
• Capture and process customer invoices accurately and timeously.
• Reviewing delivery notes and supporting documentation.
• Processing of discounts, credit notes and pricing adjustments.
• Identify and report pricing or invoicing discrepancies.
• Resolving of customer invoicing queries.
• Assist with audit preparation and supporting documentation.

Creditors / Accounts Payable

• Capture and process supplier invoices.
• Capture and process supplier and rebate reconciliations.
• Process supplier, COD, overhead and expense payments.
• Prepare payment reconciliations and filing supporting documentation.
• Follow up on outstanding supplier queries and discrepancies.
• Ensure transactions are accurately recorded all financial systems.
• Prepare with processing credit notes and supplier claims.

Costing

• Perform all menu costing according to airline documentation and menu development including standard cost development.
• Compare menu specifications, costing details and airline documentation to ensure they all tally
• Prepare with auditing invoices and checking billing accuracy.
• Prepare with extracting and validating financial data from online systems.
• Support the preparation of cost-of-sales information.
• Prepare with updating prices and maintaining pricing records.
• Prepare with verifying that commercial pricing is correctly reflected in relevant systems.
• Support the team in ensuring that client agreements and pricing requirements are accurately captured in company systems.

Qualification

• Degree in Accounting, Financial Management, Finance, Accounting Sciences, Cost Management or a related field.
