Job summary

PEP is seeking a Finance Business Analyst to bridge accounting and technology. You will optimise finance processes, design system-enabled solutions and drive automation across the finance community.

With 3+ years in financial accounting and a passion for systems, you will translate requirements into specs, support SAP-based modules, and enable end-users through training and SOPs. This role is based in the Western Cape and follows a structured Agile approach.

Qualifications

• Degree required: BCom in Financial Management or Accounting.
• CIMA or CA(SA) designation is advantageous.
• Min 3 years of financial accounting experience; retail sector preferred.
• Exposure to business systems analysis or systems implementation advantageous.
• Strong data literacy and SQL querying beneficial.

Are you a financial accounting professional looking to step beyond month-end reporting and apply your financial expertise to technology, systems innovation and process automation?

PEP is seeking an analytically minded Finance Business Analyst to join the Business Solutions team. This role is the ideal bridge for an accountant who understands financial controls and debits and credits but wants to specialise in translating accounting workflows into modern system capabilities.

You will ensure that PEP’s finance systems and operational processes adhere to industry standards and best practices, driving continuous efficiency, automation and technological support across our finance community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Process Design & Business Solutions

• Consult across business units to diagnose operational pain points and identify opportunities for technology-driven optimisation.
• Lead business process design and modelling to enhance existing workflows and build new processes.
• Formulate business cases and define clear value propositions for process upgrades.
• Keep pace with emerging trends and best practices across digital and retail environments, introducing innovative ideas to modernise finance functions.

Functional Specifications & Systems Delivery

• Translate complex financial accounting requirements into functional and technical specifications, including Business Requirement Specifications (BRS), Use Cases and User Stories.
• Manage end-to-end specification, testing and implementation of system enhancements.
• Facilitate cross-functional workshops, sprint planning and meetings using Agile (Scrum) practices.
• Drive project delivery and initiatives, ensuring implemented solutions satisfy business objectives.

User Enablement & Systems Support

• Provide continuous technical and process support to the Finance team, conducting root-cause problem analysis on system issues.
• Compile and publish structured standard operating procedures (SOPs) and comprehensive user training manuals.
• Equip end-users with the training and guidance required to adopt system changes smoothly.

JOB INCUMBENT REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications & Financial Domain Knowledge

• Degree: BCom in Financial Management or Accounting.
• Professional Designations: CIMA or CA(SA) is advantageous.
• Core Experience: Minimum of 3 years of financial accounting experience (retail sector experience is preferred).
• A natural interest in systems, automation, and process workflows.
• Exposure to business systems analysis or systems implementation is advantageous.
• Working knowledge or user experience with SAP is strongly preferred.
• Strong data literacy, with SQL querying and analysis skills considered advantageous.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace, especially Excel and Google Sheets.
• Strong analytical ability and rigorous attention to detail.
• Commercial acumen coupled with clear, confident communication and workshop facilitation skills.
