Job summary

Discovery Life in Gauteng is seeking a Finance Administrator Intern for a Work Integrated Learning placement. The role supports the Cash Control Team across Individual Life, Invest, Group Risk and Umbrella Funds, within Discovery’s health and protection mission.

You will perform daily reconciliations, billing and collections, bank statement reviews, premium allocations, and monthly reporting, while participating in weekly team meetings.

Qualifications

• TVET N6 Financial Qualification is essential.
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Understand Life Cash Control processes per SOPs.
• Review Task schedules to ensure timely Life Cash Control tasks.
• Reconcile daily Billing and Collections and investigate exceptions.
• Review daily Bank Statements and reconcile to system; correct imbalances.
• Ensure daily Debit Orders/Payments files are reconciled before release and verify Bank responses.
• Allocate daily premiums from Bank Statements and investigate unidentified deposits.
• Coordinate requirements with stakeholders and log any failures.
• Deliver daily and monthly reports and store securely for audits.
• Participate in weekly team meetings and monthly one-on-one sessions to track progress.
