Placements24 seeks a Solar PV Installation Technician to lead hands-on installation and commissioning of photovoltaic systems for residential and commercial projects in the Upington region. You will mount panels, perform electrical wiring, and ensure safety and quality standards on each site.

The role emphasizes practical field work, adherence to electrical codes, and a proactive approach to troubleshooting and maintaining PV systems in a sun-rich environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified Electrician with a valid trade certificate or relevant vocational training in solar PV installation.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience installing solar PV systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and installation manuals.
• Valid driver’s license and commitment to customer service.

Responsibilities

• Install PV systems according to design specs and electrical codes.
• Mount solar panels on roofs, ground mounts, or structures.
• Wire PV systems including inverters, charge controllers, and batteries.
• Test and commission newly installed PV systems for safety and functionality.
• Troubleshoot and repair existing solar PV installations as needed.
• Ensure installations meet local building/electrical codes and safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized worksite and proper use of tools.
