Qualifications

• Diploma or vocational qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3+ years as a Field Service Technician or similar.
• Experience with solar PV, inverters and battery storage is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting on renewable energy systems (solar PV, battery storage).
• Install, commission, and repair electrical and mechanical components of renewable energy equipment.
• Respond to service calls and resolve technical issues to minimize downtime.

About the Role

Our client is a leading provider of renewable energy solutions and requires a dedicated Field Service Technician to support their operations in the Stellenbosch, Western Cape region. Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting on renewable energy systems (solar PV, battery storage).
• Install, commission, and repair electrical and mechanical components of renewable energy equipment.
• Respond to service calls and resolve technical issues efficiently to minimize downtime.
• Conduct site assessments and ensure installations meet design specifications and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate service records, including work performed, parts used, and time spent.
• Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company procedures during field operations.
• Collaborate with the engineering and operations teams to provide feedback on equipment performance and potential improvements.
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers on site.
• Manage inventory of spare parts and tools required for service calls.
• Ensure all work is completed to the highest quality standards.

Requirements

• National Diploma or relevant vocational qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Field Service Technician, preferably in the renewable energy sector or with electrical/mechanical systems.
• Strong understanding of solar PV systems, inverters, battery storage, and associated electrical components.
• Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and technical manuals.
• Skilled in using diagnostic tools and test equipment.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field environment.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are essential.
• Willingness to travel within the Stellenbosch, Western Cape region and potentially beyond.
