Job summary

JBT Marel Corporation seeks a Field Service Technician to service, install, calibrate, and maintain equipment at customer sites across South Africa and neighboring regions. You will diagnose faults, perform overhauls, and ensure performance meets the company’s standards.

Work with the Technical Service Manager and Sales to plan site visits, advise on parts and tooling, and support start-up of new installations. Travel is extensive and customer relationships are key.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years mechanical and basic electrical experience.
• Certificate / Diploma in Mechanical engineering.
• Pneumatic skills.
• Hydraulic skills.
• Calibration skills.
• Instrumentation Reading ability.

Responsibilities

• Perform servicing and maintenance of JBT Marel equipment at customer sites, including remote locations.
• Ensure all machinery is clean, calibrated, and operating in accordance with performance standards.
• Work closely with the Technical Service Manager and Sales Department to maintain communication between customer sites and Head Office.
• Advise the Technical Service Manager of parts, tooling, and equipment requirements at customer locations.
• Assist with equipment overhauls under guidance of the Technical Service Manager to ensure compliance with standards.
• Support field testing and performance evaluations of equipment.
• Service and maintain a variety of JBT Marel equipment as required.
• Diagnose technical faults and equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Assist with installation, commissioning, and start-up of new equipment.
• Maintain a professional relationship with customers and uphold the company’s reputation for service excellence.

Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the service, maintenance, installation, and support of JBT Marel equipment at customer sites to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform servicing and maintenance of JBT Marel equipment at customer sites, including remote locations where required (e.g., Zimbabwe, Eswatini, Durban, and other regions).
• Ensure all machinery is clean, calibrated, and operating in accordance with JBT Marel performance standards.
• Work closely with the Technical Service Manager and Sales Department to maintain effective communication between customer sites and the JBT Marel Head Office.
• Advise the Technical Service Manager of all parts, tooling, and equipment requirements at customer locations.
• Assist with and perform equipment overhauls under the guidance of the Technical Service Manager to ensure compliance with JBT Marel and customer standards.
