Job summary

Rockwell Automation is seeking a Field Service Engineer – Drive Systems to deliver on-site service, commissioning, and support for LV/MV drive systems across mining and water applications from Randburg, Gauteng.

The role is approximately 85% site-based with travel and overnight stays, including a 24-hour standby roster. A hybrid schedule and ongoing training in automation systems are provided to grow Drive and Automation expertise.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience with LV/MV Drive Systems (400V, 690V, 3.3kV–11kV).
• Industry exposure in Mining and/or Water & Wastewater environments.
• Exposure to PLC programming, commissioning, and diagnostics is beneficial.
• Exposure to HMI development, modification, and troubleshooting is advantageous.
• Understanding of industrial communication networks (e.g. EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, Profinet) is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning, start-up, fault finding, and optimisation of LV and MV Drive Systems.
• Preventative and corrective maintenance of drive and motor control systems.
• Emergency breakdown response and participation in standby support.
• Support applications including pumps, conveyors, crushers, and fans.
• Support system upgrades, retrofits, and modernisation initiatives.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers and internal teams.

The role focuses on commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimisation of drive systems across Mining, Water, and Industrial applications.
