Job summary

ABB is seeking a field-based specialist for the Automation Process Industries division in KwaZulu-Natal. You will execute on-site and remote service work with 5 years of automation experience, focusing on SCADA, DCS, and drives, while ensuring safety and quality guidelines. The role is hybrid, serving customers in KZN.

You will identify improvement opportunities, prepare material lists, and troubleshoot equipment while contributing to ABB's service growth in the Process Industries area.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• 5 years of experience in automation, SCADA, DCS, and AC/DC drives.
• Knowledge of ACS Drives and 800xA.

Responsibilities

• Perform field service tasks with low to medium complexity per work instructions and ABB processes.
• Identify opportunities with customers to improve operations on-site.
• Prepare material lists for service activities and ensure availability of parts and equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment and processes, propose corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Develop the service business for the Process Industries division in the KZN area.

Your Role And Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work with low to medium complexity as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines. Each day, you will plan and execute work on a first-time right approach with customers. You will also showcase your expertise by displaying a clear understanding of sense of urgency and care in your own area of responsibility.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid

This role is contributing to the Automation Process industries in KZN.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Working with the customer (while on-site) to identify opportunities to improve the customer’s operations and eliminate pain points.
• Performing field service tasks, identifying technical issues, and performing analysis through remote or on-site activity in service categories and products.
• Preparing material lists needed for service activity and ensuring that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and of appropriate quality for service activities.
• Troubleshooting equipment/process failures, requesting proactive corrective actions, and making recommendations to avoid such issues in the future.
• Develop the service business for the Process Industries division in the KZN Area

Qualifications For The Role

• You are immersed in and developing relevant tools and methodologies and the Process Industries market
• Ability to demonstrate your experience in Automation equipment, SCADA, DCS's and AC and DC Drives with 5 years of experience
• Possess an enhanced knowledge of ACS Drives and 800xA
• You are passionate about collaborating and client satisfaction
• Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
• You are at ease communicating in English
