Job summary

Addo, South Africa-based premium lodge seeks a dedicated Junior or Senior Field Guide to make a meaningful ecological and social impact. The role includes leading twice-daily game drives, guiding nature walks and star gazing, managing guest check-in/out, and supporting staff transport.

A passion for sharing nature and strong English communication are essential. Experience in a luxury lodge environment is preferred; live-in position with 21 days on, 7 days off, shared accommodation and one meal

Qualifications

• Fluency in English with excellent communication skills.
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
• Deep knowledge of local flora and fauna.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
• Genuine passion for sharing nature.

Responsibilities

• Conduct twice-daily game drives to showcase the Big Five reserve.
• Lead guest activities: nature walks, star gazing, and SAN rock art tours.
• Manage check-in and check-out for lodge guests.
• Provide backup support for staff transport as needed.
• Host guests warmly at the lodge when weather prevents activities.

A premium Lodge in the Greater Addo region is looking for a dedicated and passionate Junior or Senior Field Guide who wants their career to make a genuine ecological and social impact.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Conduct twice-daily game drives showcasing our diverse Big Five reserve.
• Lead specialized guest activities upon request, including nature walks, star gazing, and SAN rock art tours.
• Manage the check-in and check-out process for arriving and departing lodge guests.
• Provide backup support for staff transport as dictated by operational needs.
• Host guests warmly at the lodge when adverse weather prevents scheduled field activities.

Requirements

• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
• Fluency in English with excellent communication skills.
• Deep knowledge of local flora and fauna.
• Strong interpersonal and team-work abilities.
• A positive, adaptable working attitude and a genuine passion for sharing nature.

Desired Criteria

• Prior experience working within a 5-star luxury lodge environment.
• Strong understanding of and experience in wildlife conservation and relevant environmental issues.
