Placements24 is seeking a Crop Protection Agronomist to support farmers in the North West region, including Mahikeng. You will diagnose issues, design IPM-based protection plans and advise on agrochemical use. Strong field diagnostics and communication with growers are essential.

The role emphasizes sustainable practices, on-site farmer support, and collaboration with researchers to test new crop protection solutions, with travel within the region required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Agronomy, Plant Science, Entomology, Plant Pathology or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in crop protection or agronomy.
• Strong diagnostic and field inspection capabilities.
• Ability to advise on pesticide, herbicide and biological control use.

Responsabilités

• Conduct field inspections to diagnose pests, diseases and weed infestations.
• Develop and implement integrated crop protection programs.
• Advise on selection, application, and timing of crop protection products.
• Educate growers on IPM principles and sustainable practices.
• Monitor and adjust protection strategies based on efficacy.
• Provide technical support and training to farmers and stakeholders.
• Maintain records of outbreaks, controls and crop health assessments.
• Stay informed on new protection products and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with R&D to test new protection solutions.
• Promote safe handling and application of all inputs.
