Job summary

Sygnia Limited is seeking an experienced FICA Compliance Specialist to join its Compliance team in South Africa. The role covers MLRO duties, risk-based monitoring, and oversight of CMPs across the Sygnia Group.

You will assess customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, and regulatory reporting, ensuring controls are robust and evidence-based. The successful candidate will have a strong background in FICA/AML monitoring, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently

Qualifications

• Relevant degree with compliance/AML qualification preferred.
• 6+ years in financial services compliance, with FICA/AML monitoring experience.

Responsibilities

• Fulfil MLRO responsibilities for the Sygnia Group, escalate reportable matters and maintain regulatory records.
• Develop and execute a risk-based FICA Compliance Monitoring Plan across Group entities.
• Conduct risk-based monitoring reviews including evidence evaluation, testing and data analysis.
• Maintain CMPs with defined scope, frequency, methodology and sampling procedures.
• Assess customer due diligence, including beneficial ownership, risk-rating, and EDD requirements.
• Evaluate transaction monitoring effectiveness, alert handling and investigations.
• Ensure regulatory reporting obligations are met with accuracy and confidentiality.
• Test sanctions controls and record-keeping; maintain audit trails.
• Prepare monitoring reports with remediation actions and governance escalation.
• Maintain findings register and verify corrective actions through follow-up testing.
• Provide training on AML/CFT/CPF topics and maintain compliance records.
