Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Chemical Process Engineer to optimise fertilizer production at our Richards Bay site in KwaZulu-Natal. The role focuses on improving yield, energy efficiency, and waste reduction while ensuring regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate will have a chemical engineering degree, 5+ years of process engineering experience, and hands-on knowledge of CHEMCAD or HYSYS. Join a team focused on safety, reliability, and continuous improvement in a critical industry.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in process engineering, preferably in chemical manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of chemical processes, including reaction engineering and separations.
• Experience with CHEMCAD or HYSYS simulation software.
• Understanding of safety and environmental regulations for chemical plants.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse process performance data for fertilizer production lines.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase yield, reduce energy consumption, and minimise waste.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and develop effective solutions to maintain plant uptime.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure the reliability of process equipment.
• Participate in safety reviews, HAZOP studies, and risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with local and international environmental regulations related to chemical manufacturing.
• Assist in design and commissioning of new equipment or process modifications.
• Develop and update SOPs and process documentation.
• Train plant operators on new processes or equipment as required.
• Stay current with advancements in fertilizer production technologies and chemical engineering best practices.
