Placements24 is seeking a qualified Farm Mechanization Specialist to manage and optimize agricultural machinery on farms near Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. The role focuses on efficient operation, maintenance, and cost reduction through proactive servicing.

You will oversee maintenance, advise on equipment procurement, and train operators, with a strong emphasis on diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Agricultural Mechanics.
• Minimum 5 years hands-on experience maintaining and repairing agricultural machinery.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations, maintenance and repair of farm machinery.

About the Role

Our client seeks a qualified Farm Mechanization Specialist to manage and optimize the use of agricultural machinery and equipment on their farms near Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. This position is crucial for ensuring that all farm machinery operates efficiently, is well-maintained, and is utilized appropriately for various farming tasks, thereby enhancing productivity and reducing operational costs. You will be responsible for the selection, maintenance, and repair of tractors, harvesters, planting equipment, and other agricultural machinery. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude and a comprehensive understanding of modern farm equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and repair of all farm machinery and equipment.
• Develop and implement a preventative maintenance schedule to minimize equipment downtime.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues with farm equipment promptly and efficiently.
• Advise farm management on the procurement of new machinery and equipment, considering operational needs and budget constraints.
• Train farm operators on the safe and efficient use of machinery.
• Manage inventory of spare parts and supplies related to farm mechanization.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations related to the operation and maintenance of farm equipment in the Mpumalanga region.

Requirements

• Trade qualification in Agricultural Mechanics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of agricultural machinery.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems of tractors, harvesters, and other farm equipment.
• Familiarity with various agricultural operations and the machinery required for them in the Nelspruit area.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
