Synergy Jobs (Pty) Ltd client seeks a Farm Manager in Wellington, Western Cape, for a role on a research farm. Salary is R40-45K per month plus housing allowance; start ASAP.

This position requires leadership, crop protection expertise and a track record of managing field and greenhouse operations. Responsibilities cover planting, spraying, nutrition, pruning and harvesting, staff supervision, and ensuring equipment and irrigation systems run efficiently.

Qualifications

• Experience in agricultural crop protection and supervision.
• Diploma or BSc in agronomy or closely related field.
• Knowledge of GAP and trials with crops in the Western Cape.

Responsibilities

• Handle all aspects of farm management with minimal supervision.
• Manage planting, spraying, nutrition, pruning, harvesting of crops.
• Oversee farm staff and maintenance of infrastructure and equipment.
• Assist in delivering quality trials for RD&I, marketing and sales info.
• Ensure timely service and maintenance of equipment, buildings and irrigation.
• Run day-to-day field and greenhouse operations efficiently.
• Gather information on new farm tech and crop varieties locally.
• Improve efficiency and profitability of farming operations.
• Support Area manager in developing a disciplined research facility.
• Assist GM to ensure OH&S compliance under statutory acts.
• Maintain security controls and perform other duties as required.
