Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or related field.
• 7+ years of farm management experience, focused on crop production.
• Experience managing large-scale SA operations, preferably Gauteng.
• Strong knowledge of crop physiology, soil management, and pest/disease control.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute annual crop production plans, including budgeting and resource allocation for the Tembisa, Gauteng farm.
• Supervise and manage all day-to-day farming operations, including planting, irrigation, pest and disease control, and harvesting.
• Lead, train, and motivate a team of farm laborers and supervisors to ensure efficient and safe work practices.
• Oversee the maintenance and operation of farm machinery, equipment, and infrastructure.
• Monitor crop health and growth, implementing timely interventions to address any issues.
• Manage inventory of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other agricultural inputs.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations on the farm.
• Implement and promote sustainable farming techniques to conserve resources and protect the environment.
• Maintain accurate farm records, including production data, expenses, and labor logs.
• Collaborate with the company's agronomists and technical advisors to optimize crop yields and quality.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of experience in farm management, with a strong focus on crop production.
• Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale agricultural operations in South Africa, preferably in the Gauteng region.
• Solid understanding of crop physiology, soil management, and pest/disease control strategies.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining agricultural machinery and equipment.
• Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and planning abilities.
• Knowledge of relevant agricultural legislation and best practices.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet demanding production deadlines.
• A valid driver's license is essential.
