Farm Manager - Paarl

R30 000 - R35 000 (Depending on Experience)

Our client in the agricultural industry is looking for a Farm Manager to join their team in Paarl

Minimum requirements

• Matric Certificate
• Relevant agricultural qualification will be beneficial
• 5+ years experience as a Farm Manager
• Knowledge of crops growth, diseases, and olive tree planting
• Familiarity with harvesting techniques (manual and machine), pest identification, and pesticide application
• Experience in managing irrigation systems
• Business management knowledge with strong mathematical and strategic planning skills
• Proven managerial and leadership abilities, including team motivation and conflict resolution
• Ability to manage and develop human resources effectively
• Knowledge of olive oil processing (food technology education is an advantage)
• Strong communication skills (English and Afrikaans)
• Computer literacy (MS Office, internet, and Outlook)
• Experience in farm management and relevant agricultural operations

Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee grove management, including cultivation, pest control, fertilizer application, pruning, and irrigation
• Manage the maintenance of farm vehicles, tractors, and equipment
• Supervise farm operations and ensure regular upkeep of buildings, fences, and general hygiene
• Manage staff attendance, time schedules, and disciplinary hearings
• Maintain detailed records of farm activities, including pest control, orchard maintenance, harvesting, and oil production
• Coordinate harvesting operations, quality control, and delivery of olives to the factory
• Oversee bottling plant operations and ensure effective communication with the Financial Manager and company owner
• Prepare regular reports on operational activities and performance
