Placements24 is seeking a skilled Farm Machinery Mechanic for a large agricultural operation near Vereeniging, Gauteng. The role focuses on maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs of tractors, harvesters, planters, and other farm equipment.

The ideal candidate will have a trade qualification in Diesel Mechanics, at least 5 years of experience (3+ on agricultural gear), and strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

Responsabilidades

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults in tractors, harvesters, and implements.

• Maintain a clean, organized workshop and proper storage of tools and equipment.
• Order and manage spare parts inventory for timely repairs.
• Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed for repairs and modifications.
• Assist in setup and calibration of new machinery.

• Ensure safety regulations are followed while working on machinery.
• Advise management on equipment condition and upgrades or replacements.

About the Role

Our client, a large and diversified agricultural operation near Vereeniging, Gauteng , is seeking a skilled and dedicated Farm Machinery Mechanic. This hands‑on role is essential for ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of the extensive fleet of agricultural machinery used on the farm. The mechanic will be responsible for the routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of tractors, harvesters, planters, and other specialized farm equipment. A strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems common in agricultural machinery is required. We are looking for a reliable and proactive individual with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to minimizing equipment downtime. This is a vital position supporting the efficiency and productivity of agricultural operations in the Gauteng region.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all farm machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults in tractors, harvesters, plows, and other agricultural implements.
• Conduct regular inspections of machinery to identify potential issues before they cause breakdowns.
• Maintain a clean and organized workshop, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.

Requirements

• Proven experience with a wide range of farm machinery, including tractors, harvesters, combines, and implements.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and basic electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently, as well as part of a small team.
• Good physical condition and ability to work in demanding conditions, including outdoors.
• A valid driver's license is essential for this on-site role near Vereeniging .
