About the Role

Our client, a technologically advanced agricultural producer, is seeking a skilled Farm Foreman with expertise in Precision Agriculture to join their team in Upington, Northern Cape . This role is pivotal in implementing and managing cutting-edge technologies to optimise farm operations, enhance efficiency, and maximise crop yields. The Farm Foreman will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of farm work, with a specific focus on the application of GPS-guided machinery, variable rate technology, and data-driven decision-making. Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily farm activities, including planting, cultivation, irrigation, and harvesting operations.
• Operate and maintain precision agriculture equipment, including GPS-enabled tractors, sprayers, and harvesters.
• Implement variable rate applications for fertilisers, pesticides, and water based on field data.
• Collect, manage, and analyse farm data related to crop performance, soil conditions, and equipment usage.
• Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all farm machinery and implements.
• Provide on-the-job training to farm workers on new technologies and best practices.
• Monitor crop health and growth, utilising precision tools for timely intervention.
• Assist in planning and scheduling of farm tasks to optimise resource allocation.
• Maintain accurate records of farm activities, inputs, yields, and technology usage.
• Ensure adherence to farm safety protocols and environmental standards.
• Troubleshoot technical issues related to precision agriculture equipment and software.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Farm Foreman, Farm Supervisor, or similar role, with a strong emphasis on modern farming techniques.
• Demonstrated experience with precision agriculture technologies (GPS, VRT, GIS, farm management software).
• Ability to operate and maintain sophisticated farm machinery.
• Solid understanding of crop production principles and practices.
• Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Good leadership and communication skills to manage a farm team effectively.
• Ability to collect, interpret, and utilise farm data for decision-making.
• Knowledge of agricultural practices in the Northern Cape region is an advantage.
• Valid driver's license and a willingness to work flexible hours.
