Placements24 is seeking a Precision Agriculture Specialist for a primarily remote role based in the Vereeniging region. You will work with farmers to implement GPS-guided systems, VRT, soil sampling, drone monitoring, and farm management software to enhance efficiency and sustainability.

The role emphasizes data-driven decision making, yielding improvements, and reducing environmental impact. Travel to client sites across various agricultural regions is expected as needed.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Agricultural Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in precision agriculture or related technical roles.
• Strong knowledge of GPS, VRT, soil sampling, yield monitoring, and drone applications.

About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking agricultural technology firm based in the Vereeniging area, is actively seeking a Precision Agriculture Specialist. This role is designed for an individual passionate about leveraging technology to enhance farm efficiency, sustainability, and productivity. As a key member of our team, you will work directly with farmers to implement and optimize precision agriculture techniques and technologies. This includes the application of GPS guidance, variable rate technology (VRT), drone-based monitoring, soil sensing, and farm management software. This position is primarily remote, allowing you to serve clients across various agricultural regions while maintaining flexibility. You will be instrumental in guiding our clients towards data-driven farming decisions, ultimately improving crop yields and reducing environmental impact. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of agricultural knowledge and technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and manage precision agriculture technologies on client farms, including GPS systems, VRT applicators, and soil sampling equipment.
• Analyze geospatial data, sensor readings, and yield maps to provide actionable insights and recommendations to farmers.
• Develop and deliver customized farm management plans incorporating precision agriculture strategies.
• Provide training and ongoing support to farmers and farm staff on the use of precision agriculture equipment and software.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in precision agriculture, drone technology, IoT sensors, and farm management software.
• Collaborate with agronomists and other agricultural professionals to integrate precision data into broader farm management strategies.
• Troubleshoot technical issues related to precision agriculture equipment and data analysis.
• Conduct field assessments and data collection to inform client strategies.
• Prepare reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations for clients.
• Contribute to the development and testing of new precision agriculture solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Agricultural Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in precision agriculture, farm management, or a related technical role.
• In-depth knowledge of GPS technology, VRT, soil sampling, yield monitoring, and drone applications in agriculture.
• Proficiency with farm management software (e.g., John Deere Operations Center, Trimble Ag Software, Climate FieldView) and GIS software.
• Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
• Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
• A passion for agricultural innovation and sustainable farming practices.
• Willingness to travel to client sites as needed throughout the Vereeniging region and beyond.
• Valid driver's license.
