Job summary

Smith Garb in Lichtenburg seeks a hands-on Farm Equipment Supervisor to ensure tractors and field machinery stay in peak condition. You will lead and coordinate equipment operators, record hours, and oversee maintenance in-season and during the off-season workshop.

The role requires good GPS familiarity, electronic controls, and MS Office literacy to document inputs, field trials, and maintenance logs. Overtime and weekend work may be required to support critical field operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain equipment in operating condition and diagnose breakdowns promptly.

• Record input usage (fertilizer, pesticides, fuel) for each field and cooperate with the Farm Agronomist on in-field trials.

Job description

Report to the Farm of the Future Manager and be responsible for ensuring that equipment is continuously maintained in operating conditions; solving equipment breakdowns correctly and in time; supervising and leading the equipment operators, recording their hours; off-season maintenance in the workshop; making sure that all field operations are executed correctly and timely; record input usage per field (fertilizer, pesticides, fuel etc.) and co-operate with the Farm Agronomist in the proper execution of in-field trials. KPA's include: supervising farm employees, repair and maintenance on tractors and farm equipment, ensure preventative maintenance is in place and housekeeping in the yar, buildings and fields. Knowledge of GPS systems and electronic equipment controls. Computer literate on MS Office.
The job requires working overtime and during weekends / public holidays when required.
