Cape Peninsula University of Technology is seeking a senior lecturer to support holistic student development within the faculty. The role includes coordinating development activities, tutor training, and step-up workshops, as well as managing first-year orientation and alignment with the faculty strategy.

• Minimum 3 years lecturing experience in Engineering in Higher Education.
• Evidence of working with disadvantaged students.

Responsabilités

• Coordinate and facilitate faculty student development initiatives.
• Coordinate tutor training programmes for the faculty.
• Plan and run step-up workshops and training activities.
• Lead first year orientation across the faculty.
• Identify activities to improve student development aligned to the faculty plan.
• Initiate projects related to student development and experience.
• Participate in faculty and university projects related to student development.
• Attend meetings and relay feedback to stakeholders.
• Maintain administration and records for portfolio tasks.
• Demonstrate English language proficiency in writing and speaking.
• Communicate effectively, write reports, and present findings.
• Organise and plan activities; coaching and mentoring where needed.
• Demonstrate interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
• Maintain a strong learner focus.

To support the holistic development of all students in the faculty by ensuring effective recruitment and offering academic, psychological, social, and financial assistance for the timely completion of qualifications. Additionally, provide career-building opportunities through competitions, internships, and entrepreneurship initiatives.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Masters degree in Engineering or relevant Masters degree in STEM education.
• At least 3 years lecturing experience in Engineering or related field in Higher Education.
• Evidence of working with disadvantaged students.
