Job summary

Italtile in Gqeberha is seeking a commercially astute Factory Manager to lead manufacturing, maintenance, sales, administration and budgeting. You will ensure health & safety compliance and drive financial performance and regional growth.

The role requires a Diploma/degree in Engineering, Business or Sales, with advanced Lean/ Six Sigma credentials favored and at least 5 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Business or Sales.
• Master’s degree / Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years relevant industry experience.
• Experience implementing continuous improvement/lean tools such as Six Sigma, 5S, Lean Manufacturing.
• Good understanding of South African labour law and industrial relations.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to all aspects of the operations.
• Overall accountability for all regional activities and operations.
• Ensure compliance with plant policies and OHSA requirements.
• Oversee maintenance of buildings and equipment as well as plant security.

Introduction

We are looking for a commercially astute Factory Manager to join our business in Gqeberha.

The successful candidate will be responsible for manufacturing, maintenance of production equipment, sales, administration and budgeting processes.

This position is also responsible for health and safety compliance, statutory requirements, process control and financial compliance as well as enforcing shopfloor discipline and maintaining housekeeping standards.

Job related activities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide leadership to all aspects of the operations.
• Overall accountability for all regional activities and operations.
• Ensure compliance with all plant policies consistent with organization and corporate policies, direct and supervise the application of such policies to the plant's organization.
• Ensure Plant's compliance to government and regulatory requirements such as OHSA.
• Oversees the maintenance of buildings, equipment as well as plant security and protection.
• Monitor process quality and ensure quality control programme is adhered to at all times.
• Providing customer support and sales management for regional customers.
• Serve as the face of the company within the region and the communities in which we operate.
• Financial control and accountability for meeting budget and revenue targets.
• Responsible for the Profit and Loss of the branch.
• Drive regional sales towards budget goals.
• Establish goals and objectives and assure performance of such is met at the lowest cost and highest quality.
• Provide business leadership that demonstrates commitment to plant goals on a day-to-day basis.
• Build a strong team by educating, developing, and motivating the team to achieve required results.
• Control and minimize operating expenses such as labour, overtime, transport, repair and maintenance expenses.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment by enforcing Health Safety and Environmental compliance and good housekeeping practices.

All reporting- Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly- for Finance, Legal compliance, Production, Sales, and Inventory Management.

Ad hoc duties, as required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS

This position is based in an industrial factory with automated machinery.

This position must be medically fit and mobile.

The requirements and qualifications for this position include:

Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Business or Sales.

Master’s degree, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification, advantageous.

Minimum 5 years relevant industry experience.

Previous experience/best practices implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, etc. to drive improvement.

Previous experience/strong understanding of budgeting/expense management with a basic understanding of financial and accounting practices.

Previous experience/broad understanding of safety systems and enforcement of safety rules and policies.

Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to balance production and maintenance needs.

Good understanding of South African labour law and industrial relations.

Excellent mathematical skills and strong attention to detail.
