Job summary

Red Ember Recruitment is seeking an Electrical Installation & Maintenance Technician to join a hands-on team serving commercial and industrial facilities. This on-site role involves installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, systems and components in diverse settings.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, performing routine inspections, troubleshooting faults with standard testing equipment, and ensuring all work complies with safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Qualified Electrician with a relevant trade certificate (e.g., NQF Level 3 or equivalent).
• Wireman's License (single or three-phase) is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical installations and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of electrical theory, safety regulations, and installation techniques.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools and testing equipment.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and specifications.
• Good communication and customer service skills; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Install new electrical systems and equipment per blueprints and specs.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections to identify hazards.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions using testing equipment (multimeters, scopes).
• Repair and replace faulty components, wiring, fixtures.
• Ensure compliance with National Electrical Code and safety regs.
• Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and manuals.
• Maintain records of work, materials, and time spent.
• Respond to emergency service calls to address urgent issues.
• Collaborate with project managers and other trades for project completion.
• Adhere to safety procedures and keep a clean, organized site.
• Provide basic electrical guidance to clients as needed.

Key Responsibilities
