You’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation and reliability of our facilities and infrastructure. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (maintenance, production, supply chain, quality, EHS, and finance), coordinate contractor activities, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of developing and maintaining maintenance schedules, but also tracking performance indicators and supporting compliance-related activities.

We’ll look to you for:

Maintaining facilities maintenance plans and schedules for agreed assets.

Coordinating planned, corrective, and shutdown maintenance activities in consultation with the Facilities Manager.

Ensuring the accuracy of CMMS records, work orders, asset history, and maintenance backlog information.

Preparing and issuing weekly and monthly maintenance schedules and progress updates.

Confirming the availability of labour, tools, permits, contractors, and spare parts before planned work starts.

Tracking maintenance KPIs and providing information for review by the Facilities Manager.

Supporting root cause analysis and reliability improvement activities.

Coordinating contractor access and readiness in line with site safety requirements.

Providing input to maintenance budget forecasts, purchase requisitions, and cost tracking.

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

Technical Diploma, National Diploma, or Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or Maintenance Management.

Experience in maintenance planning or facilities coordination, ideally 3–5 years in facilities, manufacturing, industrial, rail, logistics, or building maintenance environments.

Proven experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP PM, Maximo, Pragma, or EAM.

Knowledge of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance methodologies.

Familiarity with facility infrastructure systems, including electrical distribution, HVAC, plumbing, fire safety, and civil infrastructure.

Experience in spare parts management, inventory control, and maintenance material planning.

Understanding of maintenance KPIs (e.g., PM Compliance, MTBF, MTTR, backlog management).

Working knowledge of South African statutory and compliance requirements (e.g., OHSA, SANS 10142, Construction Regulations).

Strong analytical and reporting skills, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Copilot.

Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Proactive, detail-oriented, and adaptable to change.

Experience within a rail, manufacturing, automotive, logistics, or heavy industrial environment is advantageous.

Exposure to CAPEX project planning and facilities improvement projects is a plus.

Things you’ll enjoy

Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines.

Work with new security standards for rail signalling.

Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues.

Contribute to innovative projects.

Utilise our flexible and inclusive working environment.

Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries.

Benefit from our investment in your development through award-winning learning programs.

Progress towards senior facilities or maintenance management roles.

Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension).

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
